Title
Alameda Landing Residential Street Name Revision
Body
To: Honorable President and
Members of the Planning Board
From: Andrew Thomas,
Assistant Community Development Director
Background
On May 13, 2013, the Planning Board approved the Design Review and Subdivision applications for the residential development at Alameda Landing. On April 28, 2014, the Planning Board approved the street names for the project to include the names of Navy ships.
DISCUSSION
The street names that were approved by the Planning Board in 2014, have been applied to streets as development has proceeded on the site. During the course of assigning street names, staff discovered that one the names (Manning) had inadvertently been assigned to two different streets within the Alameda Landing residential development. As a result, Tripoint Homes has requested, and City staff is recommending, that one of those streets be renamed to “Morrison Street”. Similar to the originally approved names, “Morrison” is a pre-approved name on the Historical Advisory Board’s Street Name List. The revised street names are shown in Exhibit 1.
In conclusion, staff believes that the revised names will reinforce the long history of the site and support the creation of a unique and distinct new Alameda neighborhood.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
Street naming is exempt from the provision of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA guidelines section 15061 (b) (3).
PUBLIC NOTICE AND COMMENTS
Staff placed an advertisement in the newspaper notifying the public of this meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve by motion the revised street names included in Exhibit 1.
Respectfully submitted,
Andrew Thomas
Assistant Community Development Director
