BACKGROUND
On November 16, 2016, the Golf Commission unanimously approved the color and materials palette for the golf complex as part of the Jim's on the Course renovation plan. The Concession Agreement between the City and Jim's on the Course requires it to follow the color and materials palette that is determined by Greenway Golf to ensure a comprehensive and consistent look throughout all buildings at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex.
DISCUSSION
In August 2017, Greenway Golf (Greenway) informed the city that it sought to modify the previously approved color and materials palette. Greenway's intention is to make the look and feel of the exterior of the golf complex buildings reflect an image that is more closely tied to a coastal setting. The previous palette had accents with stone materials with dark blue and beige color accents and an aquamarine awning. The proposed palette instead uses wood paneling with a mix of wood coloring, paint color accents in varying tones of grey and keeps the aquamarine awnings at the restaurant.
This change was suggested due to the vision of John Ashworth and the Linksoul Lab retail component, with whom Greenway is working to improve and market the retail shop. Mr. Ashworth is considered one of the most creative design people in the golf industry; he suggested that this modification would provide a more natural and welcoming setting. Greenway considers this revised palette is a much better fit for the golf complex due its softer and more natural feel than the previously approved rock and stone finishes.
