Proclamation
Whereas, the City of Alameda acknowledges that a special vibrancy exists within the entire community when its individual citizens collectively “go the extra mile” in personal effort, volunteerism, and service; and
Whereas, the City of Alameda chooses to acknowledge and celebrate individuals and organizations within our community who give of themselves wholeheartedly and with commitment in the support of programs, services, and activities that help make Alameda a better place in which to live; and
Whereas, the City of Alameda acknowledges the mission and spirit of Extra Mile America, which is to create 500 Extra Mile cities in America, and is proud to support “Extra Mile Day” on November 1, 2017; and
Whereas, the Mayor will announce the Extra Mile winners at the October 17, 2017 City Council meeting.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Trish Herrera Spencer, Mayor of the City of Alameda do hereby proclaim November 1, 2017 as
Extra Mile Day
in the City of Alameda and encourage community members to take time on this day to “go the extra mile” and also acknowledge all those who are inspirational in their efforts and commitment to make our community a better place.
