Re: Status Report on the Alameda Point Gym Restroom Project
BACKGROUND
The City Council authorized $175,000 for construction of a modular restroom building that would serve the Alameda Point Gymnasium and additional funds were identified and allocated from the Mastick Senior Center front entrance project which was determined to be not needed. A total of $280,000 is available for this project. This project is managed by Public Works as part of the Capital Improvement Program for Building Maintenance.
DISCUSSION
Public Works solicited proposals from several firms for design of the restroom. The most responsive and lowest cost proposal was with Byrens Kim, a firm that is experienced in modular building design. This design work includes the civil engineering to bring utilities from West Redline Ave. as well as the specifications of the modular building. This restroom is planned to be on the northwest side of the gym on the parking lot side, accessible from an existing exit, and will serve as restroom facilities for both gymnasium and skate park users.
