MINUTES OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND

ALAMEDA HEALTH CARE DISTRICT BOARD MEETING

MONDAY - April 24, 2018- 4:00 P.M.

 

Chief Zombeck convened the meeting at 4:10 p.m.

A motion was made by Director Williams to approve the minutes of February 5, 2018 with change to the minutes removing Chief Zombeck from the attendee list.  Councilmember Oddie seconded the motion.  The motion carried (3A). 

 

Director Deutsch joined the meeting at 4:12 pm. 

 

Mr. Jackson reviewed item 3-B and the PowerPoint presentation noting that Alameda Health System it has reached an agreement with Anthem, effective May 1, 2018. The presentation also included an overview update on community engagement activities, support for community organizations and event and partnerships with the Hospital/System.  He also updated the committee on the HCAHPS score for Alameda Hospital and how the Hospital scores compare within the State and nationaly as reported by CMS.  Mr. Jackson announce that he will be resigning effective may 11, 2018.  He noted that AHS, Chief Operating officer would be stepping in to support Alameda and San Leandro Hospital.  (3-B)

 

Director Williams noted that the District was continuing with the search for an Executive Director and that there were 3 solid candidates for the position.  (3-C)

 

Director Deutsch noted in relationship to the status of planning to rebuild/renovate the Hospital and seismic standards, that AHS will be having a Board of trustees Retreat to discuss the Future of Health Care on the island.  He encouraged the committee to attend.  There is a joint committee of the District and AHS to discuss seismic and facilities planning at Alameda Hospital including beyond 2030 for seismic compliance.  (3-D)

 

Chief Rodriguez provided an update on the Community Paramedicine Program noting key metrics and successes of the program.  He provided an update on the the pending legislation including the proposed language on SB944 and AB1795. There was discussion on the role and scope of the paramedics related to the community paramedicine legislation.  (3-E)

The next meeting will be scheduled for July 9, 2018.
