EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Rosas Brothers Construction replaced 70,376 square feet of sidewalk, 9,713.5 square feet of 4" driveway, and 1,044 linear feet of curb for a total cost of $1,001,021, and that work is now ready to be accepted.
BACKGROUND
On July 18, 2017, the City Council awarded a competitively bid construction contract for $1,001,575, including contingencies, to Rosas Brothers Construction for the repair of concrete sidewalk, curb, gutter, driveway, and minor street patching. In awarding the contract, the City Council authorized extensions for up to four additional years.
DISCUSSION
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-18 contract has been completed and the work is acceptable to the Public Works Department. Approximately 70,376 square feet of sidewalk was replaced, 9,713.5 square feet of 4" driveway was replaced, and 1,044 linear feet of curb was replaced. The final annual contract cost for Rosas Brothers Construction, including extra work orders, is $1,001,021.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
For FY 2017-18 and 2018-19, the project was budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program (Project No. 91601), with monies allocated from the Gas Tax Fund (Fund 211), Construction Improvement Tax Fund (Fund 164) and the General Fund (Fund 001). The actual amount spent under the contract in the first year was slightly less than the approved amount as shown in the table below.
