Brief description of the subject to be printed on the agenda, sufficient to inform the City Council and public of the nature of the referral:
This referral would require new construction or renovation of any publicly accessible building that includes at least one restroom that is open to the public, to provide at least one safe, sanitary, convenient, and publicly accessible baby diaper changing station. Currently, the Government Code and California Building Code Chapter 11B only require such changing tables be included in publicly accessible restrooms in publicly accessible, government owned buildings.
Additionally, this referral would require each station to be maintained, repaired, and replaced as necessary to ensure safety and ease of use, and to be cleaned with the same frequency as the restroom in which it is located.
