EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Every year, the City Council is required to adopt a resolution setting the meeting dates for the following year. In 2020, City Council meetings will be held on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m., except the first meeting in November, which will be on Wednesday, following Election Day. There will be no meetings in August.
BACKGROUND
Section 3-7 (B) of the City Charter requires that the City Council adopt a resolution setting the dates of its regular meetings in December of the preceding year.
DISCUSSION
Other than August when no meetings will be held, regular meetings will be on the first and third Tuesday of each month, except in November. Since the General Municipal Election will be held on November 3, 2020, the first regular City Council meeting in November will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.
ALTERNATIVES
• Set the 2020 regular City Council meeting dates as described in the attached resolution.
• Elect to hold the first meeting in November on Tuesday, November 3, instead of on Wednesday, November 4.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact from setting regular City Council meeting dates.
