EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The construction schedule for the Cross Alameda Trail (CAT) project has been extended and will necessitate an agreement with Tetra Tech for post construction project closeout [Exhibit 1] and a Second Amendment to the Agreement with BKF Engineers [Exhibits 2, 3 and 4] and a Second Amendment to the Agreement with Park Engineering [Exhibits 5, 6 and 7] for additional funding in light of an extended date of completion for the project. The completion date needs to be extended until February 2020 due to inclement weather, limited contractor resources as a result of a very busy construction season, and the City's adding a significant amount of extra work. The extra work, not anticipated in the original plans, includes improving the existing storm drain and sanitary sewer manholes to mitigate their aged condition and to meet the new final finish grades. The extended project duration and compliance with environmental requirements will necessitate contract amendments with two consultants and a new contract with a third consultant. Sufficient funding is available in the project budget to approve the contract amendments and the new contract.
