Body

To: Members of the Mayor’s Economic Development Advisory Panel
From: Lois RP Butler, Economic Development Manager
BACKGROUND
The City has budgeted $200,000 for consultancy services to develop a comprehensive brand identify and marketing strategy aligned with the vision and goals set forth in the EDSP. The City anticipates releasing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for these services during Spring 2020.
At its December 5, 2019 meeting, the Mayor’s Economic Development Advisory Panel (EDAP) heard presentations from the Harbor Bay Business Park and the Research Park at Marina Village, which have developed new marketing initiatives for their properties. The City’s brand identity should work in tandem with the business parks and not be counter-productive to their efforts.
After the presentations, the EDAP, in discussion with the business park representatives and City staff, provided guidance for issuing the City’s RFP.
DISCUSSION
Based on the comments it received at the December 5, 2019 EDAP meeting, City staff drafted an RFP for Branding Strategy and Marketing Campaign to help facilitate local economic development (see Exhibit 1).
Staff requests that the EDAP review and approve the draft RFP, incorporating any recommended changes.
RECOMMENDATION
Review and Approve the Draft Request for Proposals for Branding Strategy and Marketing Campaign, Incorporating any Recommended Changes.
Respectfully submitted,
Lois Butler, Economic Development Manager
