BACKGROUND
On November 16, 2020, the Commission formed a Subcommittee of Commissioners Pauling and Schwartz to draft a proposal (Exhibit 1) regarding potential amendments to Sunshine Ordinance Section 2-93.8 (Penalties).
DISCUSSION
The Subcommittee proposal is being presented to the Commission in order for the full Commission to consider the proposal and, if the Commission agrees with the proposal, it would be forwarded to the City Council as a Commission recommendation. There has been no legal staff analysis of the Subcommittee’s proposal. If approved, the earliest the proposal could go to the City Council is in February 2021.
RECOMMENDATION
Consider the Subcommittee’s proposal to amend Article VIII (Sunshine Ordinance) of Chapter II (Administration) of the Alameda Municipal Code and consider sending the proposal to the City Council as the Commission’s recommendation.
