2) Refer the matter to staff to schedule as a future City Council agenda item.
3) Take dispositive action if sufficiently noticed such that the public and Council have been provided sufficient information by the published agenda, and no formal published notice of a public hearing is required.

Brief description of the subject to be printed on the agenda, sufficient to inform the City Council and public of the nature of the referral:
Request an update from the Interim Police Chief including, but not limited to:
* the status of hiring new officers,
* the number vacant positions,
* the current number of Officers,
* the number of anticipated retirements in the near future (up to 5 years from now),
* if the City is currently recruiting and how, and
* the Department's goal regarding the number of Officers needed for effective policing.
Community members are expressing concern about increased crime and the types of crimes being committed. The update should include, but not be limited to: 1) how crimes are being addressed, such as shootings, robberies, breaking and entering, speeding, sideshows/donuts, auto/catalytic converter theft, and shoplifting, 2) the status of fixed camera License Plate Readers (LPRs), and 3) any other training, equipment or tools, which would be beneficial.
