EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On July 7, 2020, the City Council awarded a contract to Redgwick Construction Company (Redgwick) in the amount of $406,472, which included a $38,000 contingency, for the renovation and improvement of the drainage for 60% of the parking lot with the remaining 40% being completed later as part of the street paving project on Bay Farm Island. The project also addresses the City of Alameda’s (City) portion of responsibility from a previously settled litigation where the City, Greenway, and Dialemi, dba Jim’s on the Course (Jim’s), the food and beverage operator at Corica Park, were named defendants. The remaining obligations, including various ADA compliance issues will be addressed by Greenway and Jim’s. The improvements to be executed under the subject contract are complete and acceptable.
BACKGROUND
The project included installation of additional storm drain inlets, storm drain pipe, repairs of the existing parking lot pavement, installation of a two-layer pavement cape seal, and parking lot restriping of certain parking stalls.
DISCUSSION
On July 7, 2020, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $406,472, including contingencies, to Redgwick. The project has been completed, and staff is now recommending that the City Council accept the work so the project can be closed out. The final contract expenses total $364,086.
ALTERNATIVES
• Accept project as presented; or
• Do not accept project and provide different direction to staff.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The funds were budgeted in the Capital Improvement Project 91853, Capital Improvement Fund (Fund 310). The remaining project budget, in the amount of $13,083, will be allocated toward repairs to improve drainage of the golf course parking lot. This is work will be completed under a separate contract. There is no impact to the General Fund.
MUNICIPAL CODE/POLICY DOCUMENT CROSS REFERENCE
This action does not affect the Alameda Municipal Code, but is consistent with the City’ Capital Improvement Plan.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), this project is Categorically Exempt pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c), Existing Facilities.
CLIMATE IMPACTS
There are no identifiable climate impacts or climate action opportunities associated with the subject of this report.
RECOMMENDATION
Accept the work of Redgwick Construction Company for the Chuck Corica Golf Course Parking Lot Improvements, No. P.W. 02-20-12.
CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDATION
The City Manager recommends approval of acceptance of the work.
