Brief description of the subject to be printed on the agenda, sufficient to inform the City Council and public of the nature of the referral:
Review City of Berkeley “Adopt a Spot” traffic triangle, traffic circle, traffic corners program and, based on review, implement a similar program for the City of Alameda. Since Berkeley’s program is based on Oakland’s, also review Oakland’s program, as well as any other relevant programs.
As part of the review, also review existing ordinances that hamper or support “Adopt a Spot” volunteerism efforts, such as possibly 23-8.4 or possibly AMC Chapter XXVI, and recommend changes that furthers aims of an “Adopt a Spot” program. See attached news article.
