Brief description of the subject to be printed on the agenda, sufficient to inform the City Council and public of the nature of the referral:
I recently asked Staff these questions: "Can people park their RV's indefinitely in Alameda off-street areas such as near the Main Street ferry? Is there a time limit or indefinitely?
What about at Alameda Point? As long as not on a street? In a parking lot is okay? Indefinitely as in no time limit? Any other places in the City to park RVs legally? Indefinitely?"
Staff did not provide answers which could be shared with the public.
This is the only Code section I could find that seems to be relevant, which specifies streets and not off-street parking.
8-7.11 - Recreational Vehicles, Trailers, and Boat Trailers: Prohibitions; Exceptions.
a. It shall be unlawful for any person to park or to leave unattended any recreational vehicle (as defined in Section 18010 of the Health and Safety Code), trailer (as defined in Section 630 of the Vehicle Code) or boat trailer (whether or not such trailer or boat trailer is hitched to a motor vehicle) on the streets of the City of Alameda. Such recreational vehicles, trailers and/or boat trailers may be towed to, and stored at, an impound facility at the owner's expense.

The City currently pays for services to be provided for overnight parking spaces at Alameda Point, which Staff recently shared are about half used.
It is critical that the City share with the public its approach and strategies to address the recent increase in RV's parking off street in Alameda.
Council should review this issue.
