EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

 

Each member of the City Council appoints a member of the Open Government Commission (OGC).  Councilmember Knox White is making an appointment due to a resignation.

 

BACKGROUND

 

Pursuant to Alameda Municipal Code Section 2-22.2(b), each Councilmember is to appoint one member to the OGC for a term that runs concurrent with the Councilmember’s term. 

 

DISCUSSION

 

Councilmember Knox White is appointing Melodye Montgomery. 

 

ALTERNATIVES

 

Accept the report.

 

The City Council could elect not to accept the report, but doing so would prevent appointment of the new member.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

 

There is no financial impact from appointing OGC members.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

 

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) applies only to projects that have the potential for causing a significant effect on the environment.  This action is not a project pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines section 15378.

CLIMATE IMPACT

 

There are no identifiable climate impacts or climate action opportunities associated with the subject of this report. 

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

Accept a report on the appointment of a member to the Open Government Commission. 

CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDATION

 

No recommendation due to appointment by City Council of a new OGC member.
