Recommendation to Approve the 2022 Social Service Human Relations Board Meeting Schedule with Any Necessary Changes

BACKGROUND
At its August 26, 2021 meeting, the Social Service Human Relations Board (SSHRB) voted to recommend that the City Council, Boards and Commissions survey their members at the beginning of each year to determine potential scheduling conflicts, such as non-Federal holidays and other events, that would inhibit public participation and reschedule those meetings as necessary.
The item was not heard at the November 2 and November 16 City Council meetings due to time constraints and had been continued for City Council consideration to the December 7, 2021 meeting. Staff will provide a verbal report to the SSHRB at its December 9 meeting on any City Council’s actions at its December 7 meeting.
DISCUSSION
The SSHRB meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Staff recommends that the SSHRB meets on the following Thursdays in 2022:
• January 27
• February 24
• March 24
• April 28
• May 26
• June 23
• July 28
• August 25
• September 22
• October 27
• November 24-to be canceled because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. As in the past, staff recommends that the November and December meetings be combined for date-to-be-determined meeting in the beginning of December.
• December 22-to be canceled due to the winter holidays and vacations.
Staff recommends that the Board reviews the proposed schedule to determine potential conflicts that would inhibit public participation and reschedules those meetings accordingly with the Board’s approval.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Board reviews and approves the 2022 SSHRB meeting schedule with any necessary changes. .
