Title
Presentation by Forecast Public Art on Public Art Master Planning Process
Body
To: Honorable Chair and Members of the Public Art Commission
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In December of 2020, the Public Art Commission (PAC) identified the development of a Public Art Master Plan as a top priority. Following a competitive request for proposals (RFP) process, Forecast Public Art (Forecast) was selected to work with staff to development a Public Art Master Plan.
BACKGROUND
The completion of a Public Art Master Plan was recommended by the PAC to guide the implementation of the City’s public art program, in alignment with the vision and goals of the Alameda community, PAC and City Council. An RFP from qualified consultants was issued in June 2021 and Forecast was selected in November 2021.
DISCUSSION
While Forecast and City staff have begun preliminary work on the Public Art Master Plan over the past few weeks, this presentation will (1) provide an introduction to PAC, (2) review initial timelines and work plans, (3) discuss definitions, and (4) work together to get agreement on next steps in the planning process.
Forecast has prepared a presentation, which they will give to PAC at its June 27, 2022 meeting.
