California Cities for Local Control is a grassroots organization founded in July 2020 for local control over zoning and land use decisions.  <https://localcontrolca.com/>


Over 80 California cities have adopted a Resolution (see attached) supporting exploring ways to protect the ability of cities to retain local control over zoning as each individual city within the State of California is best suited to determine how the zoning in their city should be allocated in order to meet the housing needs of the community.

I request that the Council consider joining those cities and adopt the proposed Resolution.

The City Council, at its July 25, 2020 Priority Setting Workshop, established the following 5 priorities for 2021:

3.                     Supporting enhanced livability and quality of life, including addressing the housing crisis and homelessness

5.                     Ensuring effective and efficient operations
