BACKGROUND
In October 2021 the City Council adopted the current Policy for Naming City Facilities and Streets, which authorizes the Planning Board to designate street names for new developments (Exhibit 1). The Subdivision Ordinance, AMC section 30-84.5 Street Names, also designates the Planning Board as the body responsible to approve street names. On December 12, 2022 the Planning Board approved a Development Plan and Design Review for a 90-unit townhome project at the former Pennzoil packaging site at 2015 Grand Street. The City Council approved the Vesting Tentative Tract Map and Density Bonus for the project on February 7, 2023. The applicant has now chosen names for the private streets and is seeking Planning Board approval.
DISCUSSION
The previously approved project at the intersection of Clement Avenue and Grand Street features 90 townhome units, with 5 of those units featuring an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), spread across 14 buildings. Currently Clement Avenue dead ends at Grand Street along the eastern border of the project site, then starts again west of the site at Hibbard Street.
