BACKGROUND

On April 25, 2014, the City Council adopted plans and specifications and authorized a call for bids for Alameda South Shore Lagoon Dredging, No. P.W. 11-13-26. On June 17, 2014, the City awarded a construction contract in the amount of $1,494,000, including contingencies to Dixon Marine Services for the project. The project mechanically dredged selected shallow areas within the Alameda South Shore lagoon system, removing a total of 6,487 cubic yards of material. All of this material was trucked to Alameda Point, to be used by the Navy for cover material at Installation Restoration Site 1.

DISCUSSION

The project has been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and is acceptable to the Public Works Department. The final project cost, including extra approved work orders, is $1,349,083.28.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The funds for this project are budgeted in the Public Works Department's Capital Improvement Program (90911) Alameda South Shore Lagoon Dredging with monies from the Urban Runoff Fund (Fund 351). The Alameda West Lagoon Homeowners Association (AWLHOA) has agreed to pay 30% of the cost, up to $700,000. The final cost to the AWLHOA for this contract will be $404,724.98. There is no impact to the General Fund.
