Re: Recommendation to Authorize the City Manager to Execute an Amendment to the Consulting Agreement with BKF Engineer for Construction Administration Services for an Amount Not to Exceed $50,000, for a Total Amount of $255,503, for the Cross Alameda Trail through Jean Sweeney Open Space Park.

BACKGROUND

The Cross Alameda Trail will run through Jean Sweeney Open Space Park with an on-street connection between Constitution Way and Webster Street to the trail section along Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway. The proposed path is approximately 4,000 feet long, and includes separate walkway and bikeway paths; a decomposed granite jogging path; trees, landscaping and urban runoff control consistent with the City's Bay Friendly Landscaping requirements and the Urban Greening Plan; and park amenities such as benches, bicycle racks and bicycle repair stations.

On April 21, 2015, City Council approved an agreement with BKF Engineers for the design of the Cross Alameda Trail from Webster Street to Sherman Street, through Jean Sweeney Open Space Park.

DISCUSSION

This additional service is for construction administration during phase one of the project from Webster Street to Sherman Street, through Jean Sweeney Open Space Park. The scope of this work includes assisting City staff with the bid process, such as responding to bidder questions, and assisting with selection of a contractor.
