BACKGROUND
The Maintenance Service Center, located at 1616 Fortmann Way, requires a roof replacement. The work includes, but is not limited to, complete installation of a roofing system that is watertight, resists uplift pressures, and performs normally through exposure to the next fifteen years of weather.
DISCUSSION
To solicit the maximum number of bids and the most competitive price, a notice inviting bids and project specifications was advertised in 12 separate builders exchanges throughout the Bay Area. The notice inviting bids was also published in the Alameda Journal and put on the City's website. Eight contractors submitted bids. Bids were publicly opened and read aloud on Monday, October 10, 2016. The list of bidders from lowest to highest for the total project cost is as follows:
