EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On May 7 2019, the City Manager, on behalf of the City of Alameda (City), executed a 24-month contract with Ghirardelli Associates (Ghirardelli) in the amount of $452,904 for construction management services for the Seaplane Lagoon Ferry Terminal project (Project). As a result of a projected completion schedule that extends beyond original estimates, staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute an amendment to the agreement with Ghirardelli to increase its compensation by $192,232, for a total contract amount of $645,136.

BACKGROUND

On May 7, 2019, the City entered into a contract with Ghirardelli in the amount of $452,904 to act as the City's representative/construction manager providing the oversight and quality assurance for the Project construction (Exhibit 1).

At the time the contract was executed, the construction completion date was projected for February 2020. The new projected completion date is late March/early April. In addition, the amendment includes costs for management and inspection of any post-construction work through the middle of June, should it be necessary. Ghirardelli has provided a budget to complete the additional work for $192,232 (Exhibit 2).
