EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The gymnasium (gym) at Alameda Point is a heavily utilized recreational facility that often hosts large tournaments and events on weekends. The gym's existing restrooms are insufficient for the volume of people attending these events. Beginning with the Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-17 capital budget, the City of Alameda (City) established the Alameda Point Modular Restroom Building (APMRB) Capital Improvement Project (CIP) and budgeted funds to provide a new eight-unit modular restroom building immediately adjacent and accessible to the gym. The City will reduce the cost and timeline of this project by separately procuring the modular building through a cooperative purchasing agreement and providing the building to a general contractor for install and configuration. Staff is seeking approval to purchase the building from CXT Inc., who holds a competitively solicited contract with Sourcewell, a cooperative purchasing agency the City is a member of, and to enter into contract with NBC Construction & Engineering, Inc. for installation. Current available funding in the Alameda Point Modular Restroom Building project budget is insufficient to cover costs.
